The Blue & White

(singing) The Blue and White of Phi Beta Sigma are the only colors I see! The other frats work good for the others, but they wasn't good enough for me!

I don't want to be no Alpha or no morther f-in Nupe!

I don't want to be a Kappa or a doggone "Q"!

I just want my Blu Phi till the day that I die!

Ah Blu Phi! Ah Blu Phi! Ah Blu Phiiii!!!!

One Morning

I woke up one morning and what did I see?
Three mighty founders of PHI B. E.
They touched my heart and they touched my soul.
They said oh don't you pledge that black and gold.
They touched my mouth and they touched my eye
and said oh don't you pledge no K-A-Psi.
Now they looked me down form my head to my shoe
and said you sho don't want to be no Que.
Now I'm walking down that Sigma Street.
I saw some Zetas they were looking at me.
I looked to my left and I looked to my right
and all I could see was that Blue and White.
Now the closer I got  to that light you see.
PHI BETA SIGMA was growing in me.
The road is hard to Sigmaland.
Before I got there I had to cross them sands.
Now that I've crossed those burning sand.
I can say I am a SIGMA MAN!!!!

The Mighty Sigma Wood

I'm a true Blu and white Sigma man on the hunt So hold your girl tight cuz Sigma wood is what she want. I told it to an Alpha He said he didnt care  He turned around and started playin in his boyfriend's hair A Que stepped to me talkin bout he wanted to fight  cuz on his girl's neck  he saw a trace of Blu and White I told it to a Kappa His girl had her doubts She said, "He drops his cane and it keeps on slippin out. But when I swing my wood My mighty SIGMA wood I am the undisputed When I do it, it's oh so good. Ow, Ow, Ow! Ow, Ow, Ow! Ow, Ow, Ow!

Running Through The Sands

I was runnin through the sands,
It was "oh so cold,"
When I came upon a man, wearin the black n gold,
I said "hey there greek, why you hatin on me?"
He said cause all my fam, wants to be a Blu-Phi!! I was runnin through the sands,
It was hot and dry,
When I came upon a man of K A Psi,
He said "hey there greek, can you show me a twirl?"
I said "Hell noooo greek," and I took his girl.
I running through sands,
It humid, WHEW,
When I came upon a man, good lawd, it was a Que,
He said "hey there greek, where have you been?"
I said "watching-kids-do-your-steps, in Kindergarten."
I walkin through sands,
Just havin a soda,
When I came upon a Zeta, who just knocked-out an Iota,
I said "hey sis, what happened to you?"
She said " I had to take him out, for hatin on BLU!!"

BLU, BLU, BLU BLU-PHI!!!

Whoosh, Whoosh

Whoosh, Whoosh
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh to Alpha,
Go to hell with Omega Psi Phi!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh to Kappa,
Phi Beta Sigma’s passin’ by!
No Alpha, No Kappa, no Que Psi Phi,
I’m being faithful to Phi Beta Sigma till the day I die!
I WENT TO THE RIVER
I went to the river and started to drown
I thought about a Sigma and I couldn't go down
so I ripped the "S" off of superman's chest
and put it on a SIGMA cuz he's the best
I said Go! Go! Go! G.O.M.A.B.!!!

GIVE A SHOUT
Give a shout out for Phi Beta Sigma, (Blue)
Give a shout and hold your head high. (Blue)
Give a shout out for Phi Beta Sigma, (Why)
Because we wear that Blue and White.

All the girls love Phi Beta Sigma, (Blue)
Zetas, Deltas, and AKA's. (Blue)
Gamma Rhos love Phi Beta Sigma, (Why)
Because we wear that Blue and White.

I AM SIGMA

I AM SIGMA, yes, a SIGMA, the summation of all things
I
can not be restricted because my soul, it soars on the wings
Of a dove,
no better love, than that of Phi Beta
Other organizations have tried, but
there's just nothing greater...
I AM SIGMA, a mighty Sigma, so please
don't believe the hype
For I am way too versatile to be held by a
stereotype...
I come light, I come dark, I come in all different shapes
and sizes
I'm constant, like the sun setting in the west, or in the east
where it rises...
"The founders of this wondrous band in numbers though
were three"

Chose eloquently, "Culture for service and service for
humanity"
As our motto, a way of life, that the others failed to
see
Which made us, Phi Beta Sigma, a part of the "Inclusive We"
And
to complete this fellowship that was clearly sent from up above
To our
consitution, our founders added a bond of "Sisterly Love"...
A bond
that some hate, yet they try to duplicate
What they see, they can't be me,
because they've
never had the key
To success, I am the best, and
the others can't compete
With my class, with my style, they're all forced to
take a back seat

I AM SIGMA, truly a Sigma, with a bond unlike any
other...
I AM SIGMA, Thank God I'm a Sigma, THE TRUE KEEPER OF MY
BROTHER.

Poems

Believe In Yourself

Believe in yourself, don't give up the fight Just keep on struggling with all of your might, Reslove that you will not yield in despair, Your burdens, then, will be lighter to bear.   Believe in yourself, then work doubly hard To acheive your goal despite every odd. Faith in one's self and the will to succeed Are the requisites that all of us need.   Believe in yourself and be not dismayed! Take courage from those who have made the grade. Keep monig on with a resolute will And you'll reach the top of life's rugged hill.                                              - Bro. Cornelius V. Troup

The Bitter Cup

I drink from the bitter cup With the choking oil of prejudice To quench my thirst. I ask for a cooling drink Of the water of freedom To soothe my parching lips.   Instead they give me The gall of oppression. And the dreges are so bitter; My god, they're bitter! And they tell me I must drink and like it!   My soul burns within me At the sight of that cup, And every day the man Within me stirs And whispers, oh so clear: " 'Tis better to die of thirst Than drink forever from The bitter cup."                      - Bro. Cornelius V. Troup

Consolation

Calm down and sease from secret groans,
While you may lose a hard fought race,
The sun will melt away your moans,
It rays and light will give you grace.

Cool down and cease from sweltering,
You cannot win all the time,
You'll always have a peltering,
No matter what your race or clime.

Rise up to face the common foe,
Surrender not your fate to him,
Perplexities of grief and woe
Can also s tare him with a grim.

Calm down, dejected soul of man,
And cease from whining all the time;
You have to fight in this short span,
If you must conquer, you must climb.
                                        -Bro. Nnamdi Azikiwe

Lift Every Voice

Lift every voice and sing, till earth and heav'n ring,
Ring with the harmonies of liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise, high as the list’ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith
that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope
that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod
felt in the days when hope unborn had died
yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet
come to the place for which our fathers sighed
we have come over a way that with tears has been watered
we have come treading a path through the blood of the slaughtered
out of the gloomy past till now we stand at last
where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years, God of our silent tears
thou who has brought us thus far on the way
thou who has by thy might led us into the light
keep us forever on the path we pray
lest our feet stray from the places oh god where we met thee
lest our heart drunk with the wine of the world we forget thee
shadowed beneath thy hand
may we forever stand
true to our God, true to our native land.
